We design, manufacture and market consumer products — including recreational and commercial drones, smart wearables and innovative mobile accessories for smartphone and camera users. We try to identify opportunities where users can benefit from new technology, identify the gaps and areas that can be simplified and enhanced, and develop these opportunities into products. Since 2012, we have sold and shipped over 1.7 million units of our products to consumers worldwide.


Michael Faro

President, CEO


Michael’s ambition at Mota since 2003 has been to create a company that is role-model not by size, but by simplifying the technology in people’s lives. From drones to smart wearables and innovative technologies including Virtual Reality, IoT, Robotics, his message has been to “think different” by making products that are Simple to Use, Beautifully Designed, and Innovative so everyone can benefit from them. His background includes variety of management and technical roles in companies of all sizes, both private and public companies, including Intel Corporation and Siemens AG, in various responsibilities including Strategic Planning, Negotiation, Manufacturing, Government, Supply Chain Management, Overseeing the Industry Growth, and Foreseeing Changes in Consumer demand. Michael is member of FAA’s Unnamed Aircraft Safety Team Panel, in charge of working with FAA to develop Drone Safety Regulations in the United States. He has decades of experience in the financial industry and publications in a number of areas, and speaks regularly to public news media including Bloomberg and CNBC, and technical panels including at Stanford University, and tradeshows worldwide such as CES, Shanghai Consumer Electronic Show, and World Drone Expo.

Dianne Dubois

Chief Financial Officer


Dianne Dubois became our Chief Financial Officer in April, 2017.  With extensive experience in Accounting and Finance, HR, Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and IT, Ms. Dubois brings a well-rounded approach to Financial leadership at Mota.  She has served as CFO in both publicly traded companies (Looksmart, Inc, NASDAQ: LOOK, ASX: LOK), as well as in a variety of privately held companies, including The Olivia Companies, Say Media and others. She has been working with emerging growth companies like Mota for the past 15 years both as a CFO and a consulting CFO, and has significant mergers and acquisitions experience both on the buy and sell side. Ms. Dubois started her career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and has worked in senior finance roles in large publicly held companies such as Disney, WellPoint, E*Trade and PIMCO Advisors. She is a CPA and received her BBA in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.   She enjoys being in the California sunshine, hiking the San Francisco hills and enjoying the outdoors.

Lily Ju

Chief Product Officer


Lily oversees all product manufacturing, working closely with MOTA’s manufacturing and design firms to ensure that all work meets design specifications. With a strong financial and management background, Lily has previously worked as a consultant for companies in Canada and United States undertaking product development in Asia. She has successfully managed more than 200 products from beginning to end.

Alex Ruckdaeschel

Board of Directors

With extensive background in the financial industry worldwide, is co-founder and/or partner in senior management of various companies. He co-founded Herakles Capital Management and AMK Capital Advisors in 2008 and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of PainQX. From 2002 to 2006, he was a partner with Alpha Plus Advisors and with Nanostart AG, an European investment company specializing in clean tech and small-cap equities worldwide. Mr. Ruckdaeschel also serves as a member of board of directors of Electronic Recyclers international, Inc., Nuviant Medical, Inc., and Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI). Mr. Ruckdaeschel also has significant experience as manager of the DAC Nanotech Fund and DAC Biotech Fund where he worked from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, he was a research assistant at Dunmore Management, focusing on intrinsic value in identifying companies that were undervalued and had global scale potential.

Dave Horin

Financial Advisor, CPA

Current Managing Partner of Chord since June 2012, provides accounting advisory services, SEC reporting advisory services, and IPO-readiness services. While at Chord, Mr. Horin has gained extensive experience in financial accounting and SEC reporting for complex business transactions and issues arising from the application of existing or proposed financial accounting guidance. From March 2008 to June 2012, Mr. Horin was the Chief Financial Officer of Rodman & Renshaw Capital Group, Inc., a full-service investment bank dedicated to providing corporate finance, strategic advisory, sales and trading and related services to public and private companies across multiple sectors and regions. From March 2003 through March 2008, Mr. Horin was the Chief Accounting Officer at Jefferies Group, Inc., a full-service global investment bank and institutional securities firm focused on growth and middle-market companies and their investors. Prior to his employment at Jefferies Group, Inc., from 2000 to 2003, Mr. Horin was a Senior Manager in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice in New York, where he advised firm members and clients on technical accounting and risk management matters for a variety of public, international and early growth stage entities. Mr. Horin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Baruch College, City University of New York. Mr. Horin is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Marjorie Bailey

Audit Committee Chair

Ms. Bailey, Board of Directors, previously served as audit partner at Marcum LLP from June 2004 to October 2013. She has been an adjunct professor at UC Berkley Extension since September 2013, Chief Financial Officer of Elder Care Alliance Senior Living since November 2013, and Audit Committee Chair of League of Women Votes of United States since October 2016 and California since November 2011. She also worked at Marcum LLP from November 1990 to May 1996. Among other qualifications, Ms. Bailey brings to the Board a strategic and results-oriented agenda, as a Finance Executive with extensive history implementing efficient and cost-effective business practices that generate revenue growth, profitability and strengthen company operations. Ms. Bailey received her BS in Accounting from San Jose State University in 1984.
