When I log in to my account how do I know if someone contacts me? Do they have direct access to my e-mail?

Every time a Buyer contacts you, it goes directly to your email inbox. You have the option to reply or ignore it.

It’s been 1 month and I haven’t received any contact regarding my car. Why is that?

It depends. Most Buyers will look for 2 things first: Price and Mileage. If your price is attractive, then you’ll probably get them to look at your listing. That’s half the battle.

Mileage is a bit tricky. Low miles (less than 12,000 miles per year) is a good thing, but high miles isn’t necessarily such a bad thing; if those miles are mostly highway miles, that could help sustain interest.

I registered with Mota but can’t see my ad anywhere you post to-why is that?

We automatically post to all marketplaces right after you confirm your registration. Sometimes, there’s a delay on their end. And sometimes, our fraud detectors capture an ad that looks somewhat suspicious. No, we don’t think everyone’s a suspect. To keep our Buyers safe, we take steps to ensure that you are what you say they are.

If, after a day, you still don’t see your ad online, contact us immediately, and we’ll take care of it.

Why won’t my pictures upload?

If you are having problems with our standard uploader, you can click on the link for our Classic Uploader on the photos page.

We have a 2 megabyte limit on uploaded files. If your photos are larger than 2mb, please resize them and try uploading again.

My pictures are too big to upload. How do I resize them?

There are many free services online that allow you to resize your picture. Try searching for “Resize photos online.”

How do I change my password?

Is there a charge for selling my vehicle using your site?

We have partnerships with AutoTrader.com and Cars.com, but we also have partnerships with many free marketplaces. If you would like to maximize the amount of people who see your ad, then we recommend that you select a paid marketplace.

Do you work with dealerships?

No. MOTA focuses on For Sale By Owner (or Private Party) sales. We feel that there are enough tools out there for dealers to use, and not enough for your average Seller.

Where can I change my trim?

To change your trim sign in to your Mota account page. Once you are in, click on the "Vehicle Identification Number” link. From here, there are one of two ways you can proceed:

If you have already entered your VIN, then click the “Reset VIN” button, re-enter your VIN, update your Trim, and then save it. Be sure to hit the “Republish Listing” button when you are done.

If you have not entered your VIN, put it in, select a Trim, save it, and be sure to hit the “Republish Listing” button on the top right of the site when you are done.

Where do I find my VIN?

Your VIN is located on the inside of your Driver’s side door panel. It is also located on the bottom of your windshield, where it meets the dashboard. Sometimes, your insurance company will put your VIN on your proof of insurance.

How can I update information on my AutoTrader or Cars.com ad?
