Why Tech Companies Like MOTA Love April Fools’ Day So Much

For many, April Fools’ day can be a day full of surprise attacks, lowered expectations, and bewilderment. Especially for those of us with children who like to participate. But for a lot of tech companies, April Fools’ Day is the one day out the year where we get to show our target audience that we’re not sticks in the mud. Companies such as Google, Twitter, Modcloth, Airbnb, Hulu, and even Tesla all jumped on board this year to show the world their quirky sense of humor. Here at the MOTA headquarters, we had a blast finding the April 1st gags as we traveled to different websites throughout the day. Below are a few of our favorites:

Today’s tech society sometimes takes on a drab, boring, ho-hum, shoot-me-now mentality. All the talk is about chips, gigabytes, clouds and mainframes. Wait, does anyone really talk about mainframes anymore? Regardless, we often forget that engineers and web designers are people too. April Fools’ reminds us that even people who’re glued to their coding can relax and have a little bit of fun.
